Spring 2016's Color Trends: Poppy Red, Chartreuse, Buttery-Yellow, Feel More Like Fall

Spring 2016's Color Trends -Poppy Red, Chartreuse, Buttery Yellow

Feel More Like Fall

Remember a couple of seasons ago when spring color trends were all about candy-color pastels and sherbet hues? It was like an Easter basket exploded all over your clothes.

Spring 2016 will be nothing like that. If the ongoing Fashion Weeks have their way —??and let's face it, they probably will — next season you'll be wearing subdued, earthy tones: burnt apricot, forest green, pale yellow, rusty reds, and antique cream.
Basically, the??colors you normally reserve for fall will look just right when you break them out again next spring.
You may have been hoping for something more exciting (electric violet! hot pink!), but don't worry. Spring's hues may not be super cheery, but they are flattering on most skin tones. They also have the added bonus of look pretty great when paired with dark jeans. And, for the most part, you won't feel overly done up stepping out of the house in any of these colors —??though, there are some orange-reds (Altuzarra, Vera Wang) and acid-tinged chartreuses (Rag & Bone, Kaelen) that are definitely not for the faint of heart!
Scroll on for a peek at some of the shades that are dominating New York Fashion Week's spring 2016 runways, thus far —??and take note: Most of these shades are probably already available in stores now, so wear them now and you'll definitely be ahead of the curve.

Pantone Spring Summer 2016 Color report

Pantone Spring Summer 2016 Color report

Colors this season, transcend cultural and gender norms. Vivid brights give way to excitement and optimism, though quiet stability prevails in this season’s palette.

The colors used in Spring and Summer transports us to a happier, sunnier place where we feel free to express a wittier version of our real selves.

The fashion and design communities, and consequently, consumers, have been in love with orange for several seasons. Coming to the fore this Spring is, Peach Echo, a shade that emanates friendlier qualities, evoking warmth and accessibility. It is an all-encompassing, tempered companion in the playful orange family.

While the majority of the Spring/Summer palette trends toward calmness, a few diversions from the theme emerge that offer a contrast. With the colour tone Buttercup, designers reveal a shining beacon transporting its wearer to a happier, sunnier place.

A shade of aqua that leans toward the green and blue family, Limpet Shell is clear, clean and defined. Suggestive of clarity and freshness, its crisp and modern influences evoke a deliberate, mindful tranquility.

Let us take a look at Addadress Spring Summer'16 collection Fleeting Fancies, which was conceptualised based on this season's pretty pastel colours paired along with the season's climate, along with flirty movements to accentuate the curves of the female body.

Color Trend: Chartreuse, wearing Bold Bright Colors

In the world of fast paced life, our wardrobe choices is often decided based on practicality. Our purchases often sees us falling into the habit of avoiding bright and exciting colors in our wardrobe, with the most common perception being that - exciting and bright colors is difficult to carry off, and it is tough to match with the rest of our wardrobe items.

Our team at ADDADRESS has taken on a mini project in our Lookbook, to introduce the colour Chartruese, a brilliant shade of cheery yellow, named after a french liquor.

Chartreuse is a halfway shade between green and yellow — a yellowish green, a greenish yellow. But the spectrum within this color ranges from bright lime to light sulphur.
In our mini lookbook, Chartruese is mixed with cream white, a touch of olive colour, and accented with gold accessories to create a clean, sophisticated look suitable for the everyday requirements of life, and perfect for the weekend casual look for our city lifestyle.

Black is forever

There is a saying that goes..

I will also like to say, that Black is forever.
Afterall, is there a reason to not wear all black from head to toe?

There are many colours that we as girls love, and I am guilty for favouring various colors over the years, then neglecting them when the love fades. but my love for Black (wardrobe wise),  goes beyond the measurement of time.

I can think of plenty of people (celebrity, stylist, tech geeks like steve jobs) who loves the goodness of being decked out top to bottom in black. It is afterall a very convenient color, which I often find myself packing away outfits full of black whenever I travel.

For convenience, and the sake of a light weight luggage load, in anticipation of my would be travel shopping - how else do we manage to look chic and awesome, where our shoes, accessories and apparels need not be a walking color blast of travelling gypies (dont get me wrong here, I love love love the bohemian, and hippies inspired sort of look, but we're on the color topic of black here..lets not digress)

Practicality wise, black for travelling is great.
Dirt on my shoes? Awww that's alright, it's black afterall!
Icecream stain on my black top, I'll rinse if off once I get back home/to the hotel.
Horse riding? Yeah why not?!
Scuff marks on my black leather bag? it's hardly noticeable, besides it's all about looking a little rugged. That's the mark of a busy fashionista, isn't it?

Aside from the practicality and convenience that Black brings along in any outfit, may I also add that Black has never gone out of fashion.

Magical slimming properties, did I hear you say?

Whichever the reason that you find Black a very endearing color, it is invigorating to know that there is many ways to wear black throughout the year, without looking like a hard core, rebellious teenager.

In this, I present to you my wear black cheat post!

Cheat 1: THE OVERLAY

Using Black to balance out a bright coloured item is an awesome way to refresh your look, and still wear black as a style element. its like hello black, without sacrificing your chic style.
and still pull off a feminine look.
Throw on a black leatherette jacket and you will instantly look edgier for a night out with the girls.

Wear Black Cheat 2: Layering

Wearing a printed corporate dress paired with a basic blazer will get you through the day in the office. While we're still on the topic of a stylish night out with the girls, layer your #ootd (outfit of the day) with stylish jacket would seal your fate as a fashionista for the good night out.

If jackets isn't your thing, a light weight scarf looped around the neck will definitely soften your corporate look a few notches down.

Layering helps to break away patterns and and your body silhouette by creating a contrast to your outfit, making it more interesting to the eye without vying for too much attention.

Wear Black Cheat 3: Textures, mix and match

Mixing various textures in your black outfit adds depth to a single color coordinate.
Sheer materials such as lace, chiffon, tulle against our skin feels great for a warm day, and oozes feminine appeal.

Combine your ensemble with a heavier texture totally spells yinyang for a black on black wardrobe.
Think velvet, chinos, satin, corduroys, leatherette, twill.

Bianca Satin skirt featured with Lace frilly top and Suede shoes.

Wear Black Cheat 4: Metallic Accents

One of the easiest way to jazz up an all black outfit, would be to accessorize.
Think of metallic as a neutral color - a little shine would go a long way in creating mileage to your ensemble.

My favourite Metallic colors for this year would be Gold and Gun Metal grey, paired up with the classic black.

It's so yummy, I literally feel like a magpie attracted to all that gleam and glitter that Im practically stock piling my nest like there is no tomorrow.

Going back to my black cheat quest, the surest way would be to grab a gold / silver/ rose gold/ gun metal accessory to jazz up your outfit.
Necklace, earrings, belts, bangles, sunglasses.
You get what I mean.

We could also take it our cheat a notch higher, and go luxurious with metallic detailing in our black ensemble.
For instance..

Blink Shorts with scallop piping details.
I hope this little black cheat post becomes an inspirational direction to your daily wears.
Until the next time!

xoxo
